Book Club will be reading a book by hometown boy Terry Brooks. (Books are available at Receptionist station for $5) It’s not too late to join!


Wednesdays 12:15 PM

Come and discover the benefits of adult coloring. Studies have shown that it relaxes your brain and improves brain function, induces meditative state, improves motor skills, improves sleep, improves focus, reduces anxiety and relieves stress. Come and relax with us in our new craft room!

Hosted by Morningside of Sterling, WCSC and CGH Health Foundation. You will receive confidential support and conversation, discussing dementia and Alzheimer’s Disease. On-site respite care will be provided for your loved one during the meeting.

Join Sherri for Yoga. Yoga is an art and science of healthy living. The word “yoga” is derived from the Sanskrit root “Yuj,” meaning “to join” or “to yoke” or “to unite.”

Sauk Computer User Group will meet for a question-and-answer time. John Miller will do a presentation on Microsoft Excel — other uses than a spreadsheet — followed by a short business meeting. Everyone with an interest in computers/technology is invited. Refreshments will be available.

Open to anyone who would like to attend to celebrate Veterans’ Day or honor one of their own veterans. Bring a memory or item from your/their service time and share your/their story. Chaplain Michael will be leading the group.

Join us for some BINGO fun. Please bring a $1.00 donation for the Food Pantry (no food items accepted) to play. Sponsored by WCSC. This event will take place in the Big Room upstairs.

This time we will plan to feed 100 instead of 60, like we did at the Chicken Dinner. Join us for pork roast, mashed potatoes, dressing and veggies. Cost is $7

All ages welcome! Everyone has been enjoying Karaoke so much, we will be attempting to do our own Karaoke and singalong. After enjoying the delicious pork roast dinner, join us for pumpkin pie with whip cream! Donation to benefit our Food Pantry.

Come join Yvonne as she leads the way to sample various local restaurants for a good old-fashioned breakfast of your choice. Each individual will be responsible for their own meal & tip. SCUG is back in the building! Neal from Sauk Computer Users Group will be available to assist you with any computer/device questions you might have. No appointment necessary.

We have started our 2023 membership drive. If you haven’t become a member yet, now is the time to join as you will receive the rest of 2022 for free! Being a member allows you access to our actives and discount on our trips. Our schedule of events is growing fast — we have a little bit of something for everyone. You won’t want to miss out on all this fun!

Travel Club

Monday, November 7th 10-11 AM

If you enjoy culture, entertainment and traveling, then come down and join our seniors Travel Club. It is a great opportunity to share your trips, learn about other seniors’ travels, meet travel bussies and discuss where you would like to visit in the upcoming months. Afterwards, stay and enjoy lunch with us. We’ll be serving brats, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and and a bun (subject to change).

NEW EVENT: Polling at WCSC

Tuesday, November 8th

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, the Center will act as a voting polling location. All activities in the big room will be relocated to the dining area, with the exception of the pool tables. (Sorry, guys, but you can stop by Monday to play if you wish)

Susie’s one-year anniversary party at WCSC

Please join us in celebrating Susie’s 1-year anniversary at the Center. We’ll be enjoying pizza, salad, cake and punch downstairs. “My goals may have been too ambitious as there is so much more I had hoped to accomplish by now. That just means more exciting things are yet to come!”

Residents of Whiteside County, we need your assistance honoring our veterans on Nov. 10. Thanks to a generous donation by Dorothy Szewczyk, we have two American flag afghans, a flag blanket, red white and blue hot pot holders and hand warmers to give away to Whiteside County veterans. Please email us at or mail at WCSC 1207 W. Ninth St. Sterling, IL 61081 with the name and phone number of a veteran you would like to honor with one of these gifts. The drawing will be Nov. 10 during our veterans coffee at 9 a.m. You need not be present to win, but we would love to see you!

Wheel of Fortune

Have you ever wanted to spin the wheel? Here is your chance!!! Move over, Pat Sajak and Vanna White, and make way for the Center’s very own stars, Patty and Selina. Starting this month, we will be introducing a new game to our Wednesday line-up: Wheel of Fortune. This game will begin right after lunch at 12:15 in the Big Room.

Tax Help

Looking for something to do this winter? AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free tax-filling help to those who need it most. We are looking for compassionate and friendly people to join our volunteer team this upcoming tax season. We’ll provide the training and support to help you learn new skills, and you’ll get a great feeling from helping someone else. Help is needed from greeting the tax payer to preparing the tax return. You do not need to be an AARP member. If you are interested or would like more information, please call Karen Berg at 815-625-5314.
